Fire Safety & Candle Use Sheet

Fire Safety & Candle Use Sheet

For Virtual Cord Cutting, Candle Magic Classes, and candles purchased from The Herbal Witch Bitch

Your safety is our top priority. By participating in any class that involves candles, open flame, or dressed candles with herbs, you agree to follow all fire safety instructions below.

1. Fire-Safe Setup Is Required

You MUST use:

  • A fire-safe dish or container, such as:

    • Ceramic bowl

    • Glass baking dish (like Pyrex)

    • Metal tray or cauldron

    • Cast iron dish

    • Fire-safe altar bowl

DO NOT use:

  • Plastic

  • Paper plates

  • Wood

  • Thin glass not rated for heat

  • Flammable surfaces

Your dish must be:

  • Heat-resistant

  • Large enough to catch wax, embers, and falling herbs

  • Stable and placed on a flat surface

2. Water in the Dish Is Mandatory

Because your candles are dressed with dried herbs:

  • You MUST add water to the bottom of your fire-safe dish

  • Water helps:

    • Extinguish falling herbs

    • Prevent sparks from spreading

    • Cool hot wax

    • Reduce fire risk

Recommended:

  • At least ½ inch of water in the dish

Never burn herb-dressed candles in a dry dish.

3. Candle Placement

  • Place candle inside the fire-safe dish

  • Keep away from:

    • Curtains

    • Paper

    • Pets

    • Children

    • Loose clothing

    • Hair

    • Drafts or fans

Burn only on:

  • Heat-resistant surfaces

  • Clear, open areas

4. Never Leave Burning Candles Unattended

  • Stay in the room at all times

  • Do not leave to answer doors, phones, or go outside

  • Extinguish candle before leaving the space

If flame becomes too large or herbs flare:

  • Blow it out

  • Smother it

  • Or pour water from the dish onto it

5. What to Do if Herbs Ignite

Dressed candles may crackle, spark, or flare.

If herbs catch fire:

  • Stay calm

  • Do NOT panic

  • Do NOT throw the candle

  • Use the water in your dish to extinguish flames

  • If needed, cover with a fire-safe lid or metal object

6. Personal Responsibility

By participating, you agree that:

  • You are responsible for your own space and safety

  • You will follow all fire safety instructions

  • You understand candles involve open flame and risk

  • You accept full responsibility for how you choose to use your candle
